Flag-raising marks 28th anniversary of the HKSAR’s establishment

Chief Executive John Lee and senior government officials attended a flag-raising ceremony on July 1 to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's establishment.

S&P and Moody’s maintain Hong Kong’s AA+ and Aa3 credit ratings

S&P has maintained Hong Kong's "AA+" credit rating with a "stable" outlook, while Moody's has affirmed Hong Kong's "Aa3" credit rating, and upgraded the outlook from "negative" to "stable".

Both S&P and Moody's provided positive evaluations of Hong Kong's credit profile, including its substantial fiscal buffers and foreign exchange reserves, a strong external balance sheet, and high per-capita income levels.

New international mediation body established in Hong Kong

This first international inter-governmental legal organization in the world specializing in the settlement of international disputes by mediation will be headquartered in Hong Kong, strengthening the city’s position as an international legal and dispute resolution services center.

Five Hong Kong universities rank in top 100

Five Hong Kong universities continued to hold top spots, staying in the world’s top 100, in the World University Ranking 2026 published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), making Hong Kong the place with the highest concentration of top-ranked universities globally.
