Yau Ma Tei Police Station: A Historic and Cinematic Landmark

Built in 1922, the Old Yau Ma Tei Police Station is one of Hong Kong’s few surviving pre war police stations. Many classic Hong Kong films were shot outside the station, turning the station into an icon of Hong Kong police and crime films, including Johnnie To’s Election and international hit Rush Hour 2.

Today, the police station has become one of the tourist hotspots with an exhibition of film sets showcasing the essence of classic Hong Kong police and crime films.

Renowned for undercover intrigue, daring action, bustling street chases, and high speed pursuits, Hong Kong police and crime films have, for decades, created a genre that gained international recognition and produced many celebrated directors and stars.

This exhibition connects the police station, Hong Kong police, crime films and film sets. Upon entering through a retro-style cinema entrance, visitors will find themselves in an immersive environment where they can relive the exciting moments of classic police and crime films. Attendees will encounter both iconic heroes and villains, immersing themselves in the intense world of gunfights, brawls and the gritty realities faced by both police and criminals.
