The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco, Ms Jacko Tsang made official visits to Texas in February 29 to March 2 and March 10 to 13 to renew existing relations and foster new ties.
During the visit in Houston, she met with the Director of Business and Policy of Asia Society Texas Center, Mr Matthew Fuller. They introduced to each other the work of their respective offices. Noting that Houston and Hong Kong shared common interests in I&T, including biotechnology and artificial intelligence, they explored possible collaboration to foster better understanding and closer exchange between the two cities in the future.
Ms Tsang also held a meeting with the board members and leadership of the Asian Chamber of Commerce Houston to explore room for future collaboration.
She shared updates on a range of topics about Hong Kong, including the latest social and economic situation, US-Hong Kong trade relations, liberal talent attraction measures, as well as measures to facilitate financial innovation. She encouraged the chamber to lead trade missions to Hong Kong.
While in Austin, she spoke at the Asia x Austin International Market Summit organized by the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce.
Addressing a full house at the Asian Markets Briefing, Ms Tsang outlined Hong Kong’s competitive edge and its latest strategic initiatives. She also spoke at NOVA 2024: Austin Edition, an official SXSW event that was part of the Summit. She invited the attendees to explore opportunities in Hong Kong.
Representatives from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Invest Hong Kong set up an information booth at the Summit to forge connections between Hong Kong and Central Texas.
