Hong Kong International Airport’s Excellence in Efficiency and Cargo Services Win Prestigious International Awards

The operational efficiency and air cargo services of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) respectively have been recognized again by two prestigious international awards - the “Top Asian Airport Efficiency Excellence Award” from the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS), and the “Best Global Airport” from Asia Cargo News.

Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong, said, “It is our great pleasure to clinch these accolades from the academia and air cargo industry. These awards are a recognition of the collective efforts and dedication of our 73,000 airport staff, who work tirelessly year after year. We will continue to enhance efficiency and passenger experience through applying technologies and implementing a series of expansion plans. We will also work closely with our business partners to uphold the highest levels of service excellence in air cargo services, while pursuing new initiatives in response to growth trends in transshipments, cross-boundary e-commerce and high value-added air cargo.”

It is the seventh time HKIA received the “Top Asian Airport Efficiency Excellence Award” in ATRS’s Global Airport Benchmarking Report since the award scheme was launched in 2003. Rated against Asia Pacific counterparts serving over 40 million passengers annually, HKIA is recognized for its excellence in operating and managerial efficiency, cost competitiveness, financial performance and airport charges. Results were obtained following year-long research efforts by the leading international academics of the ATRS Global Airport Benchmarking Task Force.

Meanwhile, HKIA has been named the “Best Global Airport” in The Asian Freight, Logistics & Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) of Asia Cargo News for the second consecutive year. HKIA is commended for its development of cargo-related infrastructure, cost competitiveness and facilitation of air cargo ancillary services. AFLAS awards honor outstanding organizations for their leadership, consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability. Nominations for the awards are made by freight and logistics industry players and votes are cast by Asia Cargo News readers.
