Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco Welcomes New Director


Mr Ivanhoe Chang

Mr. Ivanhoe Chang assumed the post of Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco on September 7, 2016. Mr. Chang is responsible for promoting and strengthening the business, trade and cultural ties between Hong Kong and 19 western states of the United States.

Prior to the appointment, Mr. Chang was Principal Assistant Secretary at the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau responsible for telecommunications policy. He was heavily involved in promoting the development of creative industries and the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau.

Mr. Chang has served in various posts within the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG), with policy responsibilities including revenue and taxation, and elections. He has served as the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs and worked on the constitutional development of Hong Kong.

Back in 1998, he was posted to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels as Assistant Representative to the European Union.
