The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco continues to present various Hong Kong arts performances to the audience in the United States through the dedicated webpage.
Coming up on March 8, U.S. audiences will be able to enjoy the Toolbox International Creative Academy 2021 Gala Concert. Echoing its major tone for innovative performative techniques for percussion and string, the Gala Concert is an extravaganza under Toolbox International Creative Academy (TICA 2021), Toolbox Percussion’s education flagship program. The gala concert features commissioned lecture performances by Colin Currie Quartet, the world-renowned percussion legend from the U.K; Grammy award-winning quartet Third Coast Percussion; and Synergy Percussion, Australia’s oldest and foremost contemporary music ensemble alongside music by Hong Kong musicians, celebrating the virtuosity and diversity of percussion music. Toolbox Percussion has been driving percussive arts programming in Hong Kong since 2012, curating music projects and challenging the best in the field.
Earlier on in February, three performances by Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra were featured in the webpage. Patrick Lui is an award-winning pianist, composer, arranger, and producer. He founded his own big band, Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra in 2018. The Orchestra appeared as the opening act for the 2019 Hong Kong Jazz Marathon with Will Vinson as special guest. In January, the Orchestra was invited by the Jazz Education Network in the U.S. to perform at their 2021 annual conference. Three pieces of the recorded performances were presented in the webpage.
