The Global Financial Centers Index 9 released its ninth round of results on March 21, 2011, ranking 75 major financial centers in the world in terms of their competitiveness biannually. Hong Kong ranks third, same as last round released in September 2010, after London and New York.
The instrumental factors used are grouped into 5 key areas of competitiveness (People, Business Environment, Market Access, Infrastructure and General Competitiveness). Based on questionnaire responses from financial services professional in different industry sectors, Hong Kong was again rated highest amongst professionals in the Insurance sub-index as in the previous round.
