Five Hong Kong movies shown at Seattle International Film Festival

The largest international film festival in the United States, Seattle International Film Festival, had chosen a total of five Hong Kong movies for this year’s festival. They were “After This Our Exile”, “The Banquet”, “A Battle of Wits”, “Confession of Pain” and “Exiled”.

(Photo by Dan Hawkins – 33rd Seattle International Film Festival – Hong Kong Gala)A Gala reception in honor of Hong Kong films was held on May 26, 2007 after the screening of “A Battle of Wits”. About 300 guests and film makers attended the reception.

At the reception, Seattle International Film Festival Artistic Director Carl Spence thanked the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco for supporting the festival. He said that Hong Kong movies were well received internationally. There was a full house at the screening prior to the reception.

Representing the Office at the reception was Grace Yu, Head, Public Relations. She highlighted that Hong Kong had many film talents who gained international recognition in the industry. They also created many award-winning movies. The Hong Kong Government will continue to support the film industry which is a major component of the creative industries.
