Mr. Daniel Fung, Chairman of Hong Kong Broadcasting Authority and a delegation of Hong Kong journalists visited San Francisco in February as part of their US tour. This was part of their “Study Program on the Judicial and Legal Systems of Hong Kong, PRC and US” jointly organized by the Better Hong Kong Foundation and the Hong Kong Federation of Journalists.
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco received the delegation and hosted a luncheon featuring Mr. Daniel Fung, who shared with the audience his insights on the role of Hong Kong in the context of the rise of China from the economic and political perspectives.
More than 100 guests, including judges Lillian Sing and Julie Tang were present at the luncheon.
At the luncheon, Mr. Fung said that by 2050, China may replace US and become the world’s largest economy. He added that the growth of China had brought a lot of business opportunities for Hong Kong. With the establishment of the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement, Hong Kong becomes a platform for overseas companies to enter the China market.
Following the luncheon, Mr. Fung and the delegation headed for the National Center for Courts in Nevada.
