Mr. Donald Tsang has been elected the third term Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on March 25, 2007.
The Returning Officer for the election, Mr. Justice Barnabas Fung Wah, declared on March 25 under Section 28 of the Chief Executive Ordinance that Mr. Tsang was elected as he had obtained more than half of the total number of valid votes cast.
The number of votes given to Mr. Tsang was 649, while his opponent, Mr. Alan Leong, received 123 votes.
789 Election Committee members had cast their votes, representing a turnout rate of 99.18%.
