Ms Doris Cheung took up her appointment as Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco on March 10, 2005. Being a senior representative of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, she is responsible for the development and enhancement of Hong Kong economic and trade partnership throughout the Western United States.
Ms Cheung joined the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 1983 and has worked in a wide variety of positions within the civil service including transport, trade and commerce related ones. She has served as Assistant Director-General of Trade (Regional Cooperation) and Assistant Director (Community Relations) of the New Airport Project Coordination Office. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco, she was Deputy Secretary for the Environment and responsible for policy formulation in waste management, wastewater treatment and environmental education.
Ms Cheung is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong and holds a Bachelor's degree in Arts. As part of her training and career development, she was sent to Oxford University in 1986 and TsingHua University in 1995 to attend courses designed for the Hong Kong Government.
