SFETO Celebrates its Silver Jubilee
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco celebrated its 25th anniversary at a reception on September 14. More than 200 business and trade leaders as well as government officials attended the reception.
In welcoming the guests, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco, Mr. Jeff Leung said that international trade is a key economic activity for Hong Kong and the United States is Hong Kong’s second largest trading partner. To establish and maintain the trade relationship between Hong Kong and the western United States, he and his team visited many states in the western part of the United States, in addition to receiving top government officials from Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms. Eva Cheng was among one of the government officials visiting California during the week of September 12. While in California, Ms Cheng hosted seminar and luncheons to promote the Hong Kong logistics services as well as conducted meetings with key players in the logistics industry and local transport authorities.
As the guest-of-honor at the reception, Secretary Cheng said the Office played a key role in bridging Hong Kong and the western part of the United States. The Office will continue to help the constituencies in the United States learn more about Hong Kong and use Hong Kong as a hub for their business. Hong Kong is a logistics, wine, financial, creative and education hub.
In addition to promoting Hong Kong as a wine hub, the Office is also involved in promoting Hong Kong movies. As part of the celebration, the Office partners with San Francisco Film Society to present the inaugural “Hong Kong Cinema” later this month.
As Mr. Donald Tsang, Hong Kong Chief Executive summed up in his congratulatory message, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco will continue to promote Hong Kong’s interests and strengthen the city’s economic, trade, investment and cultural ties with the United States.
