Three Hong Kong films were presented at the 53rd San Francisco International Film Festival, the longest-running film festival in the Americas.

Following the spring reception in San Francisco, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco, celebrated the Year of the Tiger in Dallas, Texas, and Los Angeles, California, on March 10 and 11 respectively.

About 350 distinguished guests, consuls general, senior government officials and business leaders celebrated the Year of the Tiger at the Spring Reception hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco on February 22, 2010.

Hong Kong Commissioner visits Hawaii
Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA, Mr. Donald Tong, accompanied by Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco (SFETO), Mr. Jeff Leung, completed a two-day visit to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University President, Professor Timothy W. Tong was in San Francisco on July 21, briefing local educators, academia and business leaders on the upcoming changes of the university structure in Hong Kong.






SCED visits Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area
In early June, Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs. Rita Lau paid her first official visit to the states of Washington and California.

In Seattle, Secretary Lau visited the Microsoft headquarters and had a meeting with its General Manager of Worldwide Industry (Government),
Mr Matt Miszewski.

Hong Kong Financial Secretary, Mr. John C Tsang visited San Francisco, Napa Valley and Los Angeles in California from April 29 to May 1.

Two Hong Kong films, “Beast Stalker” and “Claustrophobia” were screened at the 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival. “These two movies are excellent pieces which illustrate the creativity and dedication of our film talents,” said Ms Doris Cheung, Director of the
Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco.

culture in Los Angeles

To establish Hong Kong as a cultural hub in Asia, a harbourfront site in West Kowloon will soon be turned into a world-class integrated arts, cultural and entertainment area. The massive cultural district with a variety of venues and leisure facilities is expected to be completed by 2015.
